Zanzibar opened their Cecafa Cup campaign with a 2-0 victory over Somalia in Group A.

Somalia's frontmen Yusuf Ali and Sidi Abdul started the game with a series of eyecatching attacks, but they were unable to translate that into goals.

Defender Aggrey Morris put Zanzibar 1-0 up halfway through the first half with a long range effort.

Zanzibar were awarded a penalty in the dying minutes of the game after a foul on Omar Juma.

It was left to Morris, who plys his trade for Mafunzo in the Zanzibar league, to wrap up victory for the 1995 champions with the resulting penalty conversion just one minute from time.
